Due to the Current weather conditions if you have concerns regarding travelling to your Cup Fixture please contact your opponents and notify the League Secretary. Extensions are liable to be granted.
Please Note this only applies where a game has been arranged and will not apply where dates have not been arranged.
All teams from every Section are now invited to email their Result Cards to the League. you will still need to complete the Card or Result Sheet, however you have the opportunity to Scan as a file (jpeg or gif preferred) and send to the league as part of an email attachment. Please remember to specify the fixture in the email hearder.
Once again late cancellations are giveing a cause for concern. Teams wishing to cancel a fixture MUST give their opponents and the League a minium of 72 hours (3 days) notice of their intention to cancel. Where a team cancels at less that the minimum notice period the game may be awarded as a Walkover to their opponents unless there are exceptional circumstances.
The league rules can be found in the front of the League Handbook or on the League website, but it is clear (from a recent incident) that the Team Captain had not referred to this.
The League allows teams to cancel fixtures, and are reluctant to change the policy, however the effect of late cancellations brings much annoyance on opposing teams, and has in some instances played a part in teams withdrawing from the league.
Should such instances continue the league will seriously consider adopting a NO CANCELLATION POLICY, which applies in neighbouring leagues.
IT IS WITH MUCH SADNESS THAT LATE ON SATURDAY 22nd AUGUST 2009 I WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THAT BRIAN FREAM HAD PASSED AWAY. BRAIN SERVED THE LEAGUE FOR 22 YEARS AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL.
A TRIBUTE TO BRIAN ON BEHALF OF THE LEAGUE CAN BE FOUND BY CLICKING HERE.
I have been contacted by some teams requesting information on where they should make a donation in memory of Brian. Donations should be made to the Bristol Heart Institute, who looked after Brian so well during his heart operation in 2008 and more recently. As soon as I have full contact details I will advise teams n the website, alternatevely if you wish to send a donation via the league I would ensure that it is forwared on.
PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE CHANGES TO SECTIONS D AND E DUE TO ONE NEW TEAM JOINING THE LEAGUE AND ANOTHER TEAM WITHDRAWING. TEAMS IN THESE SECTIONS NEED TO RECHECK AND REPRINT THEIR FIXTURES
The Mixed League has a new team to replace the Butchers Arms who withdrew before the start of the season. As a result the league will retain the 6 team format. For more details CLICK HERE
If there are teams interested in joining the Mixed League for season 2010-2011 please contact the League Secretary.
The League has a new alley next season, Chalford Ex Services Social Club. If anyone can provide me with information on the alley it would be appreciated.
The 2008-2009 Stroud and District Skittle League Season Annual General Meeting, was held on Tuesday 7th July 2009 at Stroud Rugby Club. The attendance was just 38; which is giving the Committee cause for concern. We are therefore considering making attendance Compulsory for ALL TEAMS with possible fines or point deductions for those which fail to attend. Any player is welcome to attend and represent their team, it is not just the responsinbility of the captain commencing at 7:30pm. All teams are welcome to attend, if you don't your teams views cannot be taken into consideration.
For details from the Annual General Meeting CLICK HERE. This is your opportunity to voice any concerns to the committee.
DO YOU HAVE ANY UNUSED RESULT OR CANCELLATION CARDS. IF YOU DO PLEASE DON'T THROW THEM AWAY, RETURN THEM TO THE LEAGUE AT THE AGM AND WE WILL REUSE THEM. THIS WILL SAVE THE LEAGUE MONEY AND AVOID WASTE.
The Stroud and District Skittle League Annual Dance and Presentation Evening was held in the Carol Embury Suite at Forest Green Football Club; congratulations to all our winners. You can view the photographs taken on the night by CLICKING HERE.

I am always happy to receive any feedback or comments regarding the Stroud League, especially regarding the format or what you consider would help the loss of teams. I posted a news item regarding the League Format in July and asked for feedback, yet despite the website recieving over 5,500 hits (as of 27th November 2008) since this was published, I have received just 4 replies. You can send your comments via the Website Feedback Form, which can be found by CLICKING HERE, by email to stroudskittles@aol.com, or by using the Stroud League Message Board, which can be found by CLICKING HERE. Without you views it is difficult for the committee to act on what teams and their members feel is the best way forward for the league.
You can now check out your League fixtures on line, the Stroud and District Skittle League Website now has an on-line Fixture List for every team, which can be printed off. To access the list simply select your team from the League Table or Team Numbers. Thanks goes to Pete Stump for his assistance in setting up these files, it is planned to add a few more features at a later date.
The draws for the Second rounds of the Front Pin Cups asnd third rounds of the Stroud News and Journal Cup and Ladies Margaret Jennings Memorial Trophy are now available on line. Games MUST be played by 9th January 2009, so please remeber to arrange your fixture.

See what teams have their photographs on this site.
